Project Details
Metabolic control of corneal hem- and (lymph)angiogenesis (A04)
Subject Area
Ophthalmology
Term
since 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 501530074
Metabolic control of corneal hem- and (lymph)angiogenesis represents the central objective of this project. Our own recent findings show that a dynamic metabolic switch by involving mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation (OxPhos) within vasculature guarantees cellular growth under energetically demanding angiogenic processes. Here we aim to explore the mitochondrial control of pathological hem- and lymphangiogenesis in the cornea and furthermore to investigate the therapeutic value of mitochondria in neovascular eye diseases.
