Rewiring of GABAergic inhibitory cells recruited during spatial encoding (B02)

In this project we aim to characterize which structural and functional changes the inhibitory network undergoes, in the CA1 region of the hippocampus, due to spatial encoding. Therefore, we will perform recordings in slices and in freely moving animals, where we will optogenetically interfere with spatial encoding, to study the functional modifications of activated neurons and their interneuron circuits. We will further use large-scale 3D electron microscopy and array tomography to examine the resultant structural modifications in the hippocampal circuits.
