Project Details
MEC GABAeric interneuron coding during spatial learning and contribution of electrical coupling therein (A02)
Subject Area
Cognitive, Systems and Behavioural Neurobiology
Term
since 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 514483642
Whilst it is mostly held that GABAergic INs are broadly tuned in most brain areas, there is increasing evidence that in complex environments GABAergic INs can and in fact do encode specific features. Here we will investigate when and how GABAergic INs are recruited in complex environments, and how their recruitment supports spatial learning. Furthermore, we will seek to identify mechanisms and candidate genes that enable plasticity of GABAergic INs during spatial learning, enabling them to support reconfiguration of neuronal networks during spatial learning.
