Project Details
Metabolic factors controlling neuronal cell death decisions (B07)
Subject Area
Cell Biology
Term
since 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 471011418
Neurons are exquisitely sensitive to mitotoxicants, and mitotoxicants can either trigger death of the entire cell body or neurites only. The underlying reason for this differential response is poorly understood. Using LUHMES cell-derived neurons, this project will investigate how growth conditions, nutrient supply and metabolism affect decision-making processes in mitotoxicant-induced spatial cell death decisions. Furthermore, it will investigate whether and how these metabolic conditions affect the final outcome, i.e. survival versus different cell death modalities.
