Project Details
Oxidative cell death decisions in response to localized peroxide challenges (B05)
Subject Area
Cell Biology
Term
since 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 471011418
Ferroptosis is a specific form of oxidative cell death involving excessive lipid peroxidation. It is currently, however, unclear which subcellular compartments are targeted by lipid peroxidation during ferroptosis, and how these processes differ from other ROS-dependent forms of cell death. Employing an organelle-specific model of ROS generation this project will investigate which organelles are targeted by ferroptosis, and how these processes are counteracted by glutathione peroxidase 4 and thioredoxin reductase.
