Project Details
The role of RIP kinase 1 in the decision of apoptosis and pyroptosis induction during intracellular bacterial infection (B02)
Subject Area
Cell Biology
Term
since 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 471011418
Salmonella Typhimurium (STy) is a facultative intracellular bacterium that infects both myeloid cells and intestinal epithelial cells. This project will investigate how RIPK1 regulates cell death processes in STy-infected myeloid or intestinal epithelial cells, and how the RIPK1-dependent decision is made whether infected target cells die by apoptosis, or by lytic cell death, such as pyroptosis or necroptosis. It will particularly address the role of RIPK1 kinase activity versus scaffold function in these death decision-making processes.
