Project Details
Disease models and novel diagnostic imaging markers
Subject Area
Molecular and Cellular Neurology and Neuropathology
Term
since 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 504745852
This project aims at the development of novel non-invasive ways to detect and monitor synaptic damage in the context of synaptic dysfunction. Novel autoantibodies/-fragments generated within the consortium from patient-derived immune cells will be used to generate mouse models of neuropsychiatric disease by intracerebral or systemic antibody injections. The models will be used to validate entirely new compounds based on autoantibodies labelled with iron/gadolinium complexes. The engineered antibodies may allow the in vivo visualization of synaptic changes. The central question of this project is how newly developed antibody-based imaging probes can be utilized for the in vivo visualization and quantification of synaptic dysfunction by molecular magnetic resonance.
