Project Details
FT-Mass Spectrometer with two UHPLC Systems
Subject Area
Microbiology, Virology and Immunology
Term
Funded in 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 525521526
We apply for a mass spectrometer of the latest generation, coupled to a nano-ultra-high-pressure liquid chromatograph (nano-UHPLC) system. The device will replace an LC-MS system (year of purchase 2011), which is no longer competitive due to its age and low sequencing speed. The considered mass spectrometer will be employed in analysis of complex peptide mixtures and must deliver high sensitivity, sequencing speed and mass accuracy. In addition, we apply for a dedicated UHPLC system that will be used for offline separation (fractionation) of complex peptide mixtures. The requested devices will increase the throughput, renew the equipment park and expand the mass spectrometric expertise existing at the Proteom Centrum Tübingen (PCT) in terms of versatility of analysis. The devices will be used in own research projects of the PCT and within the framework of the Proteomics Platform (PxP) of the University of Tübingen. As a Proteomics Core Facility since 2003, the PCT has worked on over 1,125 collaborative projects and contributed to 233 publications. The proposed devices will be used for the further development of methods in the field of quantitative mass spectrometry and applied in a large number of ongoing collaborations. Own, local, national and international cooperation projects will therefore be supported with the latest MS and UHPLC technology.
