Nichtperturbative Stringdualität und D-branes in Calabi-Yau-Kompaktifizierungen

Recent progress in understanding non-perturbative properties of string theory is based on the investigation of D-branes. For the analysis of D-branes on CY-manifolds ther are two approaches: while one has a geometric description as branes wrapping around holonomy cycles in the large-radius-limit, methods of boundary conformal field theory (CFT) can be employed to study D-branes at the Gepner points. In the past, we have done research in both areas. Investigations of their relation has just been started and the first results promise a number of novel and possibly unexpected insights into nonperturbative string dualities. Among these are various new checks of string dualities, which may involve non-BPS states. Applications include the study of marginal stability and other important issues of D-brane physics. Our methods include the theory of Calabi-Yauspaces, various techniques from 2D field theory and non-commutative geometry.
