Project Details
Nonlinear generation of non-classical light in hybrid optical structures (C06*)
Subject Area
Optics, Quantum Optics and Physics of Atoms, Molecules and Plasmas
Term
since 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 398816777
The overall goal of the project (Setzpfandt/Steinlechner) is to experimentally demonstrate the utility of hybrid quantum systems consisting of a nonlinear interferometer coupled to an atom-scale single-photon absorber for the generation of complex quantum optical states, which are beyond the reach of a single quantum photonic platform. Particularly, the goal will be to demonstrate how the quantum properties of light can be tailored, resulting in photon-number statistics and spectral properties that are notably different from a squeezed-light source. Furthermore, the work will establish the range of quantum optical states that can be accessed via hybrid approaches and what the optimal parameters are to generate them.
