high resolution mass spectrometer with gas chromatograph and direct probe inlet system
Subject Area
Analytical Chemistry
Term
Funded in 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 524164512
For the analysis of substance mixtures of small, non-polar compounds the combination of gas chromatography together with electron impact ionization is an essential analytical method for characterizing newly synthesized compounds and exploring new synthetic routes. Thus, from high resolution mass spectra, not only the molecular weight can be determined, but also important information about the important information on the elemental composition and structure of the substances. In the core facility for mass spectrometry of the chemistry faculty of the Technical University of Darmstadt lacks a modern mass spectrometer for the investigation of non-polar substance mixtures. Therefore, the procurement of a high-resolution mass spectrometer, which is capable of electron impact ionization (EI) and chemical ionstaion (CI) and is also coupled with a modern gas chromatograph and a direct probe inlet system is essential for the high-precision analysis of small nonpolar molecules with a mass of up to two thousand daltons, which are synthesized mainly in organic, macromolecular and technical chemistry.
