600 MHz-spectrometer with probes and autosampler

Subject Area Molecular Chemistry
Term Funded in 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 519222575

A 600 MHz NMR instrument with a highly sensitive nitrogen-cooled probe is requested to enhance the performance and the methodological spectrum of the NMR Core Facility at the Institute of Organic Chemistry of Leipzig University. The acquisition of the new NMR instrument will meet the current requirements for NMR service, which have been significantly increased due to the new appointments of the Faculty of Chemistry and Mineralogy at Leipzig University, Prof. Tanja Gulder (Institute for Organic Chemistry) and Prof. Jens Meiler (Institute for Drug Development). These appointments have been accompanied by establishing new research activities at and in between the participating institutes and, consequently, by a general increase in the demand for NMR service and measurements. In addition, new NMR services for high-throughput NMR experiments in the context of e.g. the development of enzymes as biocatalysts by directed evolution, as well as of pharmaceutically active agents are needed. In both research areas, investigations on structure-activity relationships by small molecule-protein interactions are necessary, requiring the procurement of an autosampler with 500 positions. With this, the maximum capacity of the installation of a highly sensitive probe in terms of efficiency will be achieved.
