Surface approximation uncertainty
Applicant
Professor Dr.-Ing. Ingo Neumann
Subject Area
Geodesy, Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics, Cartography
Term
since 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 490989047
The main objective of this project P4 is the separation and numerical quantification of the model uncertainty (dependent on a real surface) together with the measurement uncertainty under consideration of the object complexity. Additionally, a new general methodological approach based on fractal geometry should be introduced for the above-mentioned main objectives. The approach will be applicable to any kind of surface-based measurement technique that delivers (unordered) point clouds. The transfer to practical applications, including a numerical validation should be only done based on the research unit relevant example of TLS. Within this research unit, this study is a key point of research in collaboration between P1, P3 and P4.
