Project Details
Vascular control of myocardial regeneration by platelet-derived innate immune signals (B08*)
Subject Area
Cardiology, Angiology
Cell Biology
Cell Biology
Term
since 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 394046768
Project B08 will study platelet-mediated thrombo-inflammation as well as extravascular effects of platelets, e.g., the regulation of angiogenesis, in the ischemic (and re-perfused) heart and compare this to ischemia in skeletal muscles. Mouse models, novel pharmacological inhibitors as well as an observational clinical study will be performed to study the role of platelet C5aR1 and other platelet-derived innate immune signals in modulating the vascular control of myocardial repair. The recruitment of project B08 thereby stands also prototypically for the CRC’s perspective and vision to increasingly involve physician scientists into the research agenda and to steadily develop the CRC’s long-term translational agenda.
