C01 combines modelling and simulation to uncover the role of mechanical cell-matrix interactions in brain tissue. Agent-based and coarse grained/phenomenological continuum models will account for cell-matrix interactions, cell migration and active force generation. Via in silico implementations, we will predict how cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions define the mechanical properties of the system at the continuum level. We will furthermore study the dynamics of neuronal organoid formation in artificial matrices based on nonlinear continuum modelling and simulation.
