Solid-state NMR and diffusion at the highest (in Leipzig available) magnetic fields allows to obtain information about materials not accessible at lower field due to the higher spectral resolution and sensitivity. This is of importance in multiple ways in the collaborative usage of the spectrometer. Among this, the characterization of different porous systems also in combination with adsorption or drug-release of small molecules, characterization of (para)magnetic systems as well as for aerosols the adsorption of water and processes of ice nucleation are of interest among others. At this high field also the study of diffusion of 13C species is possible. The sensitivity at highest field and the higher time resolution allows for the investigation of different effects in superconductors based on cuprates, especially measurements at high pressures with very low amount of sample (GPa-NMR). In the area of biophysics especially the structural dynamics in G-protein coupled receptors and the investigation of structure and dynamics of lipid membranes are of importance. For the latter, due to the low amount of available sample material the higher sensitivity at highest field is a prerequisite for the study.
