Scientific publishing in accordance with the principles of Open Access is well established as a strategic goal at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena (FSU). The affiliated scientists publish their research results to an ever greater extent via Open Access. Researchers at the FSU Jena are supported by the Thuringian University and State Library as a central contact for Open Access issues. The library has expanded its services by the provision of a central Open Access publication fund and by participating in transformative agreement. The Thuringian University and State Library has established workflows in the context of Open Access and has implemented an infrastructure for digital publishing including an information and teaching program for authors. As part of the project the share of Open Access publications shall be increased. The goal is to further expand the structural conditions for the sustainable and demand-oriented implementation of the Open Access transformation at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. Besides the centralization of the financial management in the context of Open Access through the provision of an integrated information budget the monitoring of Open Access publications and costs will be realized. The project takes account of the different publishing cultures within various disciplines and is tailored to the needs of the university’s status groups.
