In this project, we want to study the structure of interfaces and the wetting behavior of amphiphilic systems. In particular, we want to investigate the interfaces between ordered mesophases, which are characterized by long-range translational order. These phases can be described very well by Ginburg-Landau-type models, which contain a term which favors the formation of internal interfaces. In more detail, we want to investigate the following problems:1. The structure of interfaces between ordered mesophases - like the lamellar and the hexagonal phase - and a structured surface.2. The structure of interfaces between different ordered mesophases, and between different domains of the same mesophase.3. The wetting behavior on structured and unstructured surfaces at coexistence of different mesophases, or at coexistence of an ordered mesophase with the isotropic phase.4. The dynamical behavior of a wetting film of a bicontinuous microemulsion at coexistence with oil and water.
