Capacitance curves in aprotic and aqueous electrolytes: Evaluation and data extraction using advanced thermodynamic modelling

Subject Area Physical Chemistry of Molecules, Liquids and Interfaces, Biophysical Chemistry
Physical Chemistry of Solids and Surfaces, Material Characterisation
Term from 2022 to 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 510245055

Potential-dependent capacitance curves shall be determined for varying concentrations predominantly at a Ag(111) electrode, both in aqueous and aprotic electrolytes. These will then be modelled by our cooperating partner at the Weierstrass Institut. We will thus be able to elucidate a number of electrolyte data, as the ionic radii and the extent of ion pair formation as a function of concentration. In addition we will get informations on the thickness of the solvent layer in front of the electrode, i.e. between metal and the diffuse layer.
