(Wortlaut der Zusammenfassung des Antrags) There is considerable interest in nuclear behavior under thermal conditions both for low temperatures and at high temperatures, including conditions where a hadronic and/or a quark-gluon plasma may be created. The present proposal spans that range of study, including (i) the microcanonical thermodynamics of the fragmentation of small hot systems (hot nuclei); (ii) nuclear features at nonzero temperature; (iii) nonequilibrium dynamics of relativistic ions; (iv) pre-equilibrium parton production in the quark-gluon plasma; (v) quark and gluon distributions in baryons and mesons; amd (vi) the effect of the nuclear medium on baryons and mesons.
