Main group halogenido metalates, especially lead halide perovskites, are under intense investigation for various semiconductor applications. We want to expand the chemistry of these materials in two directions, which have been under-explored until now. In the first project we want to apply the principles of high entropy materials to the synthesis of halogenido metalates. Here, one crystallographic position is statistically occupied by an equimolar amount of five or more different metal atoms. We expect this approach to yield materials with improved or entirely new properties. In the second project we want to synthesize ordered multinary halogenido metalates featuring group 13/15 or 14/15 elements. Preliminary works in this directions show that new materials can be obtained which show properties that strongly diverge from those of the simple monometallic metalates.
