Project Details
Probing and simulating universal dynamics in dipolar quantum gases (A07)
Subject Area
Optics, Quantum Optics and Physics of Atoms, Molecules and Plasmas
Term
since 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 273811115
The central goal of this project is to theoretically and experimentally study the dynamical behavior of quantum gases of highly magnetic atoms while moving through their rich phase diagram, which exhibits gaseous and droplet-like super-fluids, insulating droplet arrays, and super-solids. We will study the dynamical crossing of the underlying phase transitions, both continuous and discontinuous, and investigate the far-from-equilibrium dynamics in the vicinity of these phase transitions. Thereby, we will explore how the interplay between different time and length scales introduced by the long-range dipolar interactions leads to new universalities.
