This cryostat will allow to perform magnetotransport experiments down to a temperature of 7 mK and in perpendicular magnetic fields up to 9T, whereas an additional rotatable in-plane field up to 1 T should be available as well. This instrument is of central importance for our planned experiments. With this applied-for instrument we are planning to investigate novel quantum phases in low-dimensional materials. The plans include for example measurements of the order parameters of fractional quantum-Hall states in Bernal-stacked bilayer graphene. Additionally, we aim to investigate novel unconventional superconducting states in graphene magic-angle twisted bilayer graphene. The use of the rotatable in-plane magnetic field will in these experiments help to test the rotational symmetry of such fragile states. Given the small energy scale of the subtle quantum effects, such low temperatures are absolutely necessary for the planned experiments.
