Subject Area Communication Technology and Networks, High-Frequency Technology and Photonic Systems, Signal Processing and Machine Learning for Information Technology
Term since 2022
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 503724451

The goal of the Priority Programme is to disrupt fundamental limits of connected worlds by adding resilience as a core building block. Resilience is the ability of a system to provide and maintain an acceptable level of secure and safe service delivery, even in case of failure or compromise of some of its components, and also under completely unexpected situations. Machine learning-based solutions help making our complex network infrastructures more resilient but at the cost of reduced controllability - and with reduced abilities of experts to help in critical situations. Thus, we are faced with even more challenges in terms of resilience in critical network infrastructures. This priority programme aims at solving some of these challenges in a distributed research approach. This coordination project provides the necessary scientific environment by organizing regular research colloquia, summer schools, satellite workshops, and many more. Thus, an umbrella is created to foster collaboration in an interdisciplinary team of researchers. Emphasis will be on the support of talented early career researchers and gender diversification in engineering.
