Project Details
Tsunami Attenuation Performance of Coastal Forests (TAPFOR) - Knowledge Generation and Model Development
Applicant
Professor Dr.-Ing. Hocine Oumeraci
Subject Area
Geotechnics, Hydraulic Engineering
Term
from 2007 to 2011
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 50357020
The primary objective of the proposed research is to develop and validate a detailed numerical model as well as semi-analytical formulae which are based on experimental and field results for the prediction of the attenuation performance of coastal forests subject to both tsunami and storm waves. The prospective models and formulae can be used for typical estuarine forests (e.g. mangroves) as well as for typical beach forests (e.g. casuarina).
