In the first funding period, Michael T. Heneka took the position of the Head of the Clinical Research Group as proposed in the first application. This position is connected to a WS Professorship for Clinical Neuroscience that has been established at the Bonn Medical Faculty. To support communication and administration we apply for a full-time secretary. This position is intended for Ms Anke Krämer, who started in the CRG177 April 2009 and has been key for the organisation and communication of the CRG177 since then. Furthermore, financial resources are requested for travelling to international scientific meetings, invitations of guest speakers and organization of a 2nd international symposium on Neuroinflammation in Bonn from 24th-26th of February 2011. We further apply for the funding of Gerok fellowships that will allow medical doctors to be released from all clinical duties. The fellowship will be awarded to applicants-from one of the clinical institutions as this has been a successful tool in the first funding period. Decisions on the fellowships will be made by the board of project leaders. There will be a central administration of the expenses for animal housing.
