Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 26293245
The project C5 deals with steady and unsteady high-order numerical simulations of model rocket combus-tors. Focus is on combustion and turbulence chemistry interaction using finiterate chemistry where transport equations are solved for all species. A multi-variate assumed PDF (probability density function) approach and a newly developed transported PDF technique account for turbulence chemistry interaction. Simulations with different fidelities, RANS (Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes), URANS (unsteady RANS), and DDES (delayed detached-eddy simulation), are performed for rocket combustion chambers ranging from single injector chambers to multi-injector configurations.
