Project Details
Experimental analysis of the interaction phenomena between hot nozzle flow and transonic external flow (B01)
Subject Area
Fluid Mechanics
Term
from 2008 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 26293245
The main objective of the sub-project B1 in the upcoming funding period is the study of the hot plume inter-action with the external flow in the transonic regime. H2O2 fuel with different mixture ratios will allow per-forming a systematic study on the aerodynamic and aerothermal phenomena in the base of a launcher model. Experiments will be carried out using metallic and CMC nozzles to study the influence of the wall temperature and thermal radiation on the aerothermal interaction in the launcher base region. In addition the most promising passive and active flow control techniques developed by the sub-projects B3, B4 and B6 will be used for a flight relevant test configuration in VMK. There will be a strong cooperation with the sub-project B5 in terms of numerical simulation of the experiments.
