Project A5 aims to investigate an extension of transpiration cooling for combustion chamber parts to its combination with regenerative cooling. This combination is advantageous in terms of overall efficiency for future combustion chamber systems. Moreover, a direct film cooling effect might occur for e.g. nozzle cooling downstream the nozzle throat. The investigations proposed here for the advanced future design of structures using such combined cooling approaches include thermo-physical characterization of novel material, detailed experimental investigation of combined cooling behavior in low and moderate temperatures, and finally a sub-scale validation experiment at high temperatures.
