Project Details
Film cooling in rocket nozzles (A02)
Subject Area

Technical Thermodynamics
Term
from 2008 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 26293245
Experiments will be performed with a nozzle of rotational symmetry varying the most important flow parameters. Based on the achieved results, existing models for the film cooling efficiency will be extended for a flow with a negative pressure gradient. Experiments with transpiration cooling will allow a direct comparison of the film and transpiration cooling efficiency for identical flow conditions. Concerning new nozzle concepts, the influence of a contour kink of a dualbell nozzle on the cooling film stability will be studied.
