Project Details
Combined Operando NMR and UV-Vis Spectroscopic Monitoring of Fe-Catalysed Cross Coupling Reactions (B05)
Subject Area
Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
since 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 443703006
Mechanistic understanding of iron catalysed (cross coupling) reactions is rather limited. This project will employ a combination of operando NMR-spectroscopy with simultaneous UV-Vis-spectroscopy for the real-time characterization and online monitoring of iron catalysed (cross-coupling) reactions. NMR will be used for the characterisation of diamagnetic or paramagnetic NMR active species. Furthermore, it shall be investigated whether UV-Vis spectroscopy enables the detection and quantification of species present at low concentrations or of NMR-silent iron species. The improved understanding of the mechanistic details from these investigations is expected to allow for a better design of iron catalysed cross coupling reactions in the future.
