Subject Area

Term
since 2022
Project identifier

Participation and dissociation constitute impact dynamics of political theatre performances that can lead to friction. The research project examines this friction in activist forms of political theatre which stand in the tradition of the 1920s and 1930s agitprop theatre. Analysing these theatrical forms should consequentially lead to a deeper understanding of the peculiarities of theatrical interventions in comparison to other forms of intervention. The research project pays close attention to a recurring awareness of crisis shared by key players of 20th century and contemporary political theatre alike.
