Multimessenger signatures of Galactic cosmic-ray transport (A01)
Subject Area
Astrophysics and Astronomy
Term
since 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 445052434
In this project, three-dimensional cosmic-ray transport models are combined with measurements from the Fermi gamma-ray satellite to obtain information about the distribution of cosmic rays in our Galaxy. The focus of this study is the Galactic center region to provide an understanding of the interplay between the diffusive transport within the Galactic disk and the signatures of the outflow perpendicular to it. By comparing model predictions with multi-wavelength data, the project provides a starting point for differentiating baryonic scenarios from those governed by dark matter.
