The Anhalt University of Applied Sciences wants to encourage and financially support its scientists in publishing research results in accordance with the principles of the Open Science Strategy and thereby helping to improve scientific communication. The primary goal is to sustainably and significantly increase the share of open access and peer review publications by members of the HSA - both in the group of professors and among young researchers. The aim is, that by the end of 2024, 40% of all publications in journals have to be published open access with a peer review process and impact factor. This target should be increased by an additional 10% for each additional year of publication, up to a target of at least 60%, which will apply from the publication year 2026. In order to achieve the targets, various sub-goals have been defined. The visibility of the university has to be increased by creating a sustainable publication infrastructure. Another focus is on promoting young academics, by creating specific and fitted training offers for open access in order to significantly increase open access publication rates. Furthermore, reliable structures and procedures for financing Open Access publications must be established on a permanent basis. The strengthening of the open access mentality in all university areas is planned in the future through continuous knowledge transfer strategies.
