The project is continuing the work in the first funding phase (2022–2024) and building on the extensive preliminary work of Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ) and, in particular, its Central Library. It serves to implement FZJ’s open access strategy, which states that: “Forschungszentrum Jülich welcomes and supports the transition of scientific publishing to open access, including within the framework of national and international initiatives.” In particular, the strategy pursues the following goals: 1. To support the shift to publication-based funding models or diamond open access 2. To improve the administrative, organizational, and technical conditions in the area of recording, processing, and paying for open access publications, including the implementation of the information budget 3. To create and further improve the conditions for targeted DFG funding of publications resulting from DFG funding Within this context, the following work packages (WPs) are planned: (WP 1 and WP 2 from the first funding phase are complete and will not be continued.) WP 3: Increase in the granularity of the information budget and reallocation of funds within the information budget WP 4: Intensification of advice on open access for monographs and conception of a “JARA publishing house” for RWTH Aachen University and Forschungszentrum Jülich WP 5: Implementation of various measures to further promote ORCID among scientists at Forschungszentrum Jülich WP 6: Reduction of transaction costs for open access publications by participating in standardization initiatives and further improvement of workflows WP 7: Improvement of funding acknowledgments by further developing the GEPRIS crawler, including extension to other research funding bodies WP 8: Further implementation of the communication strategy at Forschungszentrum Jülich and external networking with the relevant projects, initiatives, and stakeholders. WP 9: Expansion of the Open Access Monitor, which includes ensuring its efficient use for applications in the Open Access Publication Funding programme WP 10: Transition from an in-house solution for electronic resource management to the LAS:eR system offered by the university library centre (hbz) of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia
