Project Details
Novel functional groups of low-valent silicon
Applicant
Professor Dr. Matthias Drieß
Subject Area
Inorganic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
from 2007 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 47694584
Low-valent silicon compounds are valuable building blocks for the synthesis of novel functional groups which continue to attract considerable attention in main group chemistry. The objectives of the project are the synthesis and investigation of the reactivity of unprecedented isolable low-valent silicon compounds featuring silicon(0), silicon(II) and silicon multiply bonded sites. Central objectives are the generation of silicon-oxygen multiply bonded compounds such as silanones with three-coordinate silicon atoms, NHC-stabilized monomeric silicon dioxide and silicon monoxide, NHC-supported :Si=PH, :Si=NH, :Si=C: species as well as low-valent silicon and NHC supported zero-valent metal complexes thereof.
