The research project pursues the goal of a complete edition of the Latin and German works of Paul Fleming (1609–1640) with a translation of the Latin works, a comprehensive commentary, and indices to the œuvre. Following the single source publishing principle the edition is designed as a hybrid consisting of a digital and book edition, which represents Fleming’s œuvre in the most appropriate way. Fleming is a pivotal author in European literary, intellectual, and cultural history; the projected edition is considered as one of the most urgent desiderata of early modern literary studies. Due to the diversity and cultural relevance of Fleming’s poetry, it will also provide important impulses for the history of early modern culture, medicine, and geography.
