Project Details
Seasonality, variability and trends of halogenated trace gases in the UTLS (C04)
Subject Area
Atmospheric Science
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 428312742
To contribute to the central research questions, we plan to derive distributions of halogenated trace gases in different sea-sons and regions and compare these with global model runs. The experimental focus of the proposed project is on regular air sample collection in the UTLS during flights of the IAGOS-CARIBIC aircraft. In the initial phase a new control unit for the air sampling system will be constructed to be combined with existing air sampling units. The projects involves instrument development, laboratory analysis of air samples, data and model evaluation. The focus will shift from technical aspects during the first year to laboratory measurements, data quality assurance and scientific data evaluation in the later phases.
