Project Details
Transient Absorption on Multiple Timescales – from Ultrafast Relaxation to Charge Transfer Processes (B08)
Subject Area
Physical Chemistry of Molecules, Liquids and Interfaces, Biophysical Chemistry
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 444632635
The main goal of the project is to devise, construct and apply transient absorption experiments covering the entire dynamic range of photocatalytic reactions. fs to ns deactivation will be probed in several catalyst-substrate complexes. A scan range up to hundreds of μs will become available by combining a tunable ns excitation source and fs whitelight for probing. This will allow us to observe an entire photocatalytic cycle on all its inherent timescales. We will improve the selectivity and information content by the development of new spectroscopic methods: ns actinic pump – fs re-pump – fs probe and ns actinic pump – fs impulsive vibrational spectroscopy.
