Project Details
Intracellular organization of Ebola virus RNA synthesis; formation, maturation and transport of viral RNP (A05*)
Subject Area
Virology
Term
since 2021
Project identifier

Replication of Ebola virus genomic RNA takes place in virus-induced inclusion bodies and results in the formation of progeny genomes that are packaged and transported to the sites of viral budding. Although virus-induced inclusion bodies play an important role in the synthesis of the genomic RNA, their organization is not well understood. In the proposed project we will investigate the spatial and temporal organization of Ebola virus RNA synthesis, its packaging into ribonucleoproteins (RNP), the molecular basis for RNP maturation to become transport-competent nucleocapsids, and cellular and viral factors involved in the transport.
