Probing strong-interaction matter with gravitational waves from neutron-star mergers (B09*)

Subject Area Nuclear and Elementary Particle Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Relativity, Fields
Term since 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 315477589

Probing stronginteraction matter with gravitational waves from neutronstar mergers will investigate the impact of the high-density equation of state and Dark Matter on the dynamics of neutron-star merger events and their signatures. We will explore the effect of a phase transition to color-superconducting phases on the phase diagram, the thermodynamics, and on transport properties of matter. We will then predict the influence of color-superconducting phases on the gravitational-wave emission and on the kilonova properties. We will also investigate the influence of a Dark-Matter component on the properties of neutron stars and on their gravitational-wave signals.
