Project Details
Synthetic Interface Chemistry (A16*)
Subject Area
Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 223848855
Organic synthesis at surfaces and interfaces will be used to create novel carbon-based materials, including nonbenzenoid 2D carbon sheets and porous 2D+ materials, for the construction of functional internal interfaces. New synthesis protocols will be developed using interface-induced catalytic and template effects for reaction control. This approach will be pursued in two complemen¬tary directions: (i) Carbon materials will be prepared by on-surface synthesis and then integrated in multilayer interfaces, hetero¬stacks, and model devices. (ii) New interface-controlled C-C coupling reactions will be developed based on specific reactivities and selectivities at buried interfaces.
