The aim of subproject A06 is the development of a new method based on impedance spectrometry for analysing cell occupancy on cochlear implant stimulation electrodes and for predicting the electrode geometry. This method also allows monitoring of the implant position during insertion and long-term stimulation efficiency. Therefore, impedances between all cochlear electrodes will be measured and used to validate an in silico finite element model (FEM) that correlates electrode impedances, cochlear implant position, and cell occupancy.
