Holographic 6D Wireless Locating and Motion Tracking (A02)
Subject Area
Communication Technology and Networks, High-Frequency Technology and Photonic Systems, Signal Processing and Machine Learning for Information Technology
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 442419336
Project A02 investigates an innovative wireless locating system for high-speed and high-precision acquisition of 6D poses (i. e. 3D position and 3D orientation of body parts and their movement). With the use of a holographic extended Kalman filter, absolute signal phases of low-cost 61 GHz radio nodes will be evaluated, even though the nodes are completely unsynchronised/incoherent. The holographic phase evaluation will allow for sub-millimetre measurement accuracy at an outstanding update-rate up to 10 kHz. Thus, the project is enabling attractive novel options for tracking highly dynamic human body movements.
