The city of Mysore is located in the south of the Indian state of Karnataka. From 1399 until the independence of India in 1947, the city was the seat of government of the state of Mysore. For centuries, the centre of power was the Palace of Mysore, residence of the Maharajas of the Wadiyar dynasty. The subject of the present application is the reconstruction of the parts of the palace destroyed by fire. The representative building was constructed around 1900 in the context of British colonial rule. The building components in the "Indo-Saracenic" style are ordered from a Scottish iron foundry, produced in Glasgow, delivered to Mysore and assembled on site. The aim of the research project is to investigate the eclectic reconfiguration of the palace's stylistic features and the industrial production of its cast iron building components in relation to the aesthetic preferences of the palace's clients.
