The morphology and integrity of cellular organelles are not only a consequence of a respective cell state but also a critical determinant of cell state transitions. Hellerschmied will study how and through which pathways Golgi stress connects to regulation of cell cycle state transitions. Using a variety of approaches including acute perturbation models and high end imaging, she will address (1) how Golgi stress affects cell cycle transitions and the concomitant structural rearrangements; (2) how response factors in Golgi stress signalling regulate cell cycle transi-tions; and (3) how cell states and Golgi integrity are linked in cancer cells.
