Ehrmann aims to uncover the molecular mechanisms of cell cycle checkpoint triggering under conditions of unbalanced proteostasis. This project will address the implications of the widely conserved serine protease HTRA1 in these events. Recent work demonstrates that HTRA1 performs protein quality control and affects cell cycle progression. These studies aim at reveal-ing how HTRA1 senses and modulates proteotoxic stress as well as its implications in the cell cycle and the modulation of checkpoint signalling and activity.
