The complex methods that are used for the design require a model reduction for being coupled into the Digital Twin. The objective of the subproject B05 is to investigate mathematical foundations and numerical methods for mechanical simulations and structure-preserving model reduction, in such a way that qualitative or quantitative properties are represented within the Digital Twin with the required accuracy and stability at the lowest possible computational effort. Linear and innovative nonlinear model reduction methods as well as special direct and iterative solution methods including preconditioners for the time-critical solution of the systems of equations in the time integration process are to be investigated.
