Project Details
Combinatorial design of damage-tolerant dual-phase steel microstructures (B06*)
Subject Area
Synthesis and Properties of Functional Materials
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 278868966
This project deals with experimentally identifying strategies to design damage-tolerant DP microstructures. For this purpose, the most important parameters, namely volume fraction, strength, grain size, and morphology of ferrite and martensite, will be varied systematically and independently. This will be approached in an iterative manner by thermodynamic calculations, combinatorial synthesis, testing of the mechanical properties, and damage tolerance as well as high resolution microstructure characterization. Thereby identified design strategies will be subsequently upscaled and validated in the process chain of the TRR 188.
