In this project, we will develop a theoretical framework to describe ultrabroadband electro-optic sampling processes and a variety of quantum fluctuation phenomena and quantum measurement protocols that can be realized with them, specifically the measurement back-action effect, the simultaneous measurement of incompatible observables, and multi-time correlation functions. We will also explore other areas where quantum measurements of the electromagnetic field can be implemented, in particular microwave circuit quantum electrodynamics with solid-state systems.
